Weaving Care, Staging Community: A Renovated Narrative for the Hong Kong Red Cross
At the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) Headquarters, the renovation of the 5th and 6th floors re envisions the organization’s ethos through a dialogue between “hard” and “soft” materials. The project crafts spaces for care, collaboration, and community by transforming the 5th-floor exhibition area and the 6th-floor pantry into dynamic, multifunctional zones.
5th Floor: A Collaborative Workplace
The 5th floor’s “Cross Weave” concept honors HKRC history, translating the idea of interlacing into a flexible co-working space with over 26 hot desks. It features modular furniture and a choice between a glazed meeting room or two acoustic pods, all set within a calming Morandi color palette.
6th Floor: A Social Lounge
On the 6th floor, the “Vivid” concept creates an adaptable social lounge for over 36 people. Movable furniture and a stage area allow the space to shift from a dining area to an event venue, embodying flexibility and connection. The material palette balances durable elements like birch plywood and laminates with soft, acoustic-friendly finishes, creating an environment that is both functional and humane, reflecting the organization’s core mission.
